Nurture Director & Counselling Psychologist.
Richard is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and holding Associate Fellowship and Chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Richard has worked in several NHS Adult Mental Health Services, in specialist services for people with cancer and their families, as well as in the academic sector. Alongside managing and practising within Nurture, he is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. He undertook Doctoral training in Psychotherapeutic & Counselling Psychology at the University of Surrey and local NHS services and has been in professional practice since 1998. His primary therapy training was in Cognitive-Behavioural and Psychodynamic models of practice.
Post- qualification interests have led to further training in approaches including Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy.
